The
Woolwich Intermediate finished up its fourth regular season capturing a Silver
medal in the KMHA A Pool Finals.
Following a regular season of 18-3-4 in league play, including 14 shut outs, the Wild’s team game carried them to a convincing 3-0 victory over Waterloo in league semi-finals and a hard fought shootout loss in the final versus Stratford.
During the regular season, the team enjoyed a potent offence averaging 25 shots and 2.6 goals per game. While playing an entertaining and uptempo brand of hockey, the commitment to a disciplined team game was evidenced by only giving up an average of 11 shots per game with a stellar 0.63 goals against average and a 94.4 save percentage during the season.
For the year, the team’s record stands at 30-4-6. In addition to the KMHA Silver Medal, the team captured a Gold Medals in the Jason Cripps Tournament and the Brampton Cougars Friendship Tournament.
The Intermediate Wild coaching staff credit balanced scoring, unselfish team play and the ability of the players to make in-game adjustments as keys to the team’s success this year. Harmonious team dynamics both on and off the ice also contributed to a very competitive, consistent and sportsmanlike team.
With a large number of returning players and graduating Midgets eligible to play next year, expectations are equally high for a similarly great 2016-2017 season.
Go Wild!!
