Senior B Finish Inaugural Season Capturing Silver in SOWHL Finals and Provincials
The Woolwich Wild Senior B Rep Team capped off its inaugural regular season competing in the Southern Western Ontario Women’s Hockey League (SOWHL) by finishing 1st in their pool and capturing Silver in both the SOWHL Playoffs and Provincial Championships.

After losing to defending League Champion Stratford Aces in a tightly contested SOWHL Final, the Wild Senior B played their best hockey of the year at the Provincial Championships.

Going undefeated in Pool play and holding the tiebreakers against other 1st place teams, the Wild held home ice advantage through the 3 playoff rounds.  Two close hard-fought victories in the quarter finals and semi finals versus Ennismore and London earned the Wild Senior B a trip to the Gold Medal game versus the Napanee Crunch.

After going down 2-0 in the first period, the Wild fought back with a late goal in the 1st to bring the score to 2-1.  Taking control of the game in the 2nd period, the Wild fought hard for the tying goal through the remaining 2 periods.  Several close calls, including two 3rd period goal-mouth scrambles, could not be turned into the equalizing goal.  Napanee scored into an empty net to make the final score 3-1.

The Wild Senior B were full measure for their Silver Medal victory, earning affirmations of their style of play from officials and opponents alike.  A great cap to an outstanding first season in the return of women's competitive hockey to Woolwich.

With the core team planning on returning to represent Woolwich next year, expectations are high for a similarly great 2017-2018 season.  Go Wild!!
