Meet our U18BB Coach!
Hi my name is Terilyn Smith and I am the Head Coach of the Woolwich Wild U18BB team for the 2025-2026 season

This is my 4th year as a Head Coach with the Woolwich Wild Association. I have really enjoyed getting to know the players and being apart of their growth both individually and as a team. By far the most rewarding part of coaching beyond any outcome of the game is watching the players grow as a team, apply the skills and plays we work on in practice and seeing their smiles when they get to the rink. I hope this season we continue to achieve the goals we set, develop the players and their confidence on and off the ice, build a hard working team and learn to persevere through the ups and downs of the season.

Prior to coaching, I played rep hockey for over 20 years mostly in Kitchener before I made the move to Woolwich for Senior. I made the decision last year to hang up the skates on my playing career as I found more enjoyment in coaching than actually playing. When I was growing up my parents signed me up to referee hockey with Alliance Hockey in Kitchener where I completed 6 seasons. I took some time off of refereeing for college but found my way back and have now been a part of the Elmira District Hockey Referee Association for the past three seasons. My experiences through playing and refereeing has strengthened my abilities as a coach and allows me to see and understand the game from many different viewpoints.

Outside of the rink, I work as the Operations Manager for GFL Environmental Inc. I reside in Woolwich with my husband Matt and our fur babies Maverick and Bandit. I am a huge Carolina Hurricanes fan and enjoy spending my summers at the golf course, traveling to new places and spending time with family and friends.

A special thanks to my assistant coaches and trainers for their commitment each year. They have supported both our team and myself to become better on and off the ice and thanks to their help they make each game possible.

Coaching has been challenging but a very rewarding experience and I am looking forward to meeting the new players that are coming out and excited for another great season ahead!
