Intermediate Wild Finish Inaugural Season Taking Silver at Brampton Tournament
To finish up its inaugural season, Woolwich Wild Intermediate ended their 20-9-9 season with a Silver Medal at the Brampton Canadettes 46th Annual Hockey Tournament, the largest and longest running female tournament in North America.

In a fantastic tournament and playing some of their best hockey of the year, the Intermediate Wild outscored their opposition 12-3 in pool play to capture first place.

The Wild took on Cambridge in the semi finals beating them 3-1 to advance to the finals. The finals pitted the Wild against the Kent Country Fillies, who had dropped their first game of the tournament to the Wild 3-2 in a penalty filled match.  Continuing their strong play, Woolwich dominated the game territorially but came up short in a 3-2 loss.

The Wild applied pressured through the end of the game and were full measure for the Silver.  With the goaltender pulled in the final 1:45, the Wild were almost rewarded for their valiant efforts by ringing a well placed shot off the crossbar with seconds to play.

Kudos go to Lindsey Lesage who had 2 shut-outs in the tournament and stopped a penalty shot late in the 3rd period of the final game - making her an easy choice for tournament MVP.

Most rewarding for the Wild coaching staff were the number of compliments from other coaches during this tournament and throughout the year on the thrilling, sportsmanlike and competitive manner the Intermediate team represented Woolwich Wild hockey.

The Wild Intermediates take home their second silver medal of the year having also won silver in a similarly hard fought close loss in the Orangeville tournament in February.

With many of the Intermediates planning on returning to represent Woolwich next year, expectations are high for a similarly great 2013-2014 season.  Go Wild!!
