Silver in Niagara
Woolwich Wild Senior B capped off a successful Niagara Women's Hockey Tournament with a hard-fought Silver Medal.
After winning their pool with 3 solid wins (including 2 shut-outs), the Wild finished first in the Senior B division and hosted the London Wheelers in the tournament final.
The Wild played an entertaining and hard-fought final against an experienced London squad that is tops in Ontario and had won all 4 of their tournaments this year. After a scoreless first period, the Wild entered the third period down 1-0. After London scored early in the 3rd to go up 2-0, tenacious play saw the Wild get within 1 goal with 4 minutes left to play in the third. Pushing for the tie to send the final into overtime, the Wild gave up 2 late goals to make the final 4-1.
The loss in the final ended a 15 game consecutive winning streak for the Wild Senior B. The team is looking to get back on to another winning streak as they host Stratford in the SOWHL Finals and compete in the Provincial Championships in April.
Another significant accomplishment for the season ladies. Well Done!!
